Or so they say. I don't see any reason why that wouldn't be the case - at least, not if they're trying to create an even playing field.

No, I wasn't sure how it would turn out-- didn't want to risk it being super obvious and giving it away. Not that it's super useful?

Mine's not as useful as it could be, either, but I'm trying to come up with ways I might be able to use it. I can spin straw into gold.

But I'm pretty sure it's not Imperial gold. If I can find somewhere with a hot enough fire, I might be able to make weapons from it, though.

[There's a snort.] You think? Maybe if we just added fuel to the fireplace we could make it work. [He frowns.] I haven't really used mine either because it's different. Magnus, what is yours?

I can repair cloth-- clothing, tapestries, whatever I guess. So, if either of you rips a shirt, I guess come to me?

[That's useful if they ever decide to like. Murder someone. And their clothing gets ripped. Ideally they won't have to do that, though, so she doesn't bring up the possibility.

Reyna nods, committing it to memory, and looks to Nico.]

[He draws his sword suddenly, holding it up in the light so that it can cast a shadow. He pauses just for a moment before he seemingly concentrates, a hand moving just slightly and the shadow of the sword moving on its own accord in an upward arcing motion.

I can think of a few things.

[mainly they're applicable to, like, murder. or confusing an attacker and escaping from murder. but it's not the most practical skill in the world.]

The question is, how do we use our gifts to keep ourselves safe?

Distractionary tactics, creating traps and heavy objects made of gold? [He rolls his eyes.] I have a feeling a lot of these gifts aren't meant to keep us safe.

That would be ridiculous. How are we supposed to be murdered for a war or whatever if we were able to keep ourselves safe?

All three of us are making it out of this alive. I'd rather it didn't come to us having to do anything, but - we need to find ways to apply our gifts defensively if we don't want to go on the offensive.

Then what we should be doing is practicing more so we know how to use what we've been given. Everything sounds like it creates something, so that takes time to learn to control and grow.

Yeah, that's not a bad idea. Be kind of stupid not to practice, I guess.

Agreed. We should meet up again once we've had more practice, compare what we've been able to do.

Once a week maybe? Check in on our progress and everything. It's not hard to find any of us in this place.
