[There's a snort.] You think? Maybe if we just added fuel to the fireplace we could make it work. [He frowns.] I haven't really used mine either because it's different. Magnus, what is yours?
[That's useful if they ever decide to like. Murder someone. And their clothing gets ripped. Ideally they won't have to do that, though, so she doesn't bring up the possibility.
Reyna nods, committing it to memory, and looks to Nico.]
[He draws his sword suddenly, holding it up in the light so that it can cast a shadow. He pauses just for a moment before he seemingly concentrates, a hand moving just slightly and the shadow of the sword moving on its own accord in an upward arcing motion.
Distractionary tactics, creating traps and heavy objects made of gold? [He rolls his eyes.] I have a feeling a lot of these gifts aren't meant to keep us safe.
the others can't kill them if they kill them first]
All three of us are making it out of this alive. I'd rather it didn't come to us having to do anything, but - we need to find ways to apply our gifts defensively if we don't want to go on the offensive.
Then what we should be doing is practicing more so we know how to use what we've been given. Everything sounds like it creates something, so that takes time to learn to control and grow.

he coughs to cover a laugh at reynas title first. ]
Sorry, that's a pretty bad sounding one. Not sure I can laugh, I'm... a disney princess. Sleeping Beauty.

[it's.... a joke
probably]
no subject
...Wendy. That's mine. And we all have objectives and skills, don't we?
no subject
[ byt he can tell it's (probably) a joke. ]
They sure had fun with these titles, didn't they. Yeah, we do, as far as I know?
no subject
Or so they say. I don't see any reason why that wouldn't be the case - at least, not if they're trying to create an even playing field.
no subject
Have either of you tried your abilities yet?
no subject
[ 800% reyna, yes. real q is who is weaker; magnus or nico. ]
No, I wasn't sure how it would turn out-- didn't want to risk it being super obvious and giving it away. Not that it's super useful?
i thought i responded to this during the trial
[She frowns slightly.]
Mine's not as useful as it could be, either, but I'm trying to come up with ways I might be able to use it. I can spin straw into gold.
[Then she outright scowls.]
But I'm pretty sure it's not Imperial gold. If I can find somewhere with a hot enough fire, I might be able to make weapons from it, though.

[ he sees you going last again, nico, ]
I can repair cloth-- clothing, tapestries, whatever I guess. So, if either of you rips a shirt, I guess come to me?

Reyna nods, committing it to memory, and looks to Nico.]
...what do you mean, different?
no subject
This is the wrong kind of shadow control :|]
no subject
[ shadow puppetry!! ]
I mean, no idea what you could do with it, but cool.
no subject
I can think of a few things.
[mainly they're applicable to, like, murder. or confusing an attacker and escaping from murder. but it's not the most practical skill in the world.]
The question is, how do we use our gifts to keep ourselves safe?
[Or. The two of them, really.
Reyna will see them through this even if she has to drag them bodily out of the castle with her bare hands.]

[like, she's just saying
the others can't kill them if they kill them first]

no subject
Yeah, that's not a bad idea. Be kind of stupid not to practice, I guess.
[ he says, though he doesn't really want to. rip clothes up to magically repair them. ]
no subject
Agreed. We should meet up again once we've had more practice, compare what we've been able to do.

It'll be fine as long as none of us die.
