[what up, skeleton buddy. reyna's just going to head right on over when she sees fane the day after his little adventure - so many people had swarmed them upon their arrival that she'd thought it prudent to give him a little breathing room.
(not that he. needs to breathe? she doesn't see any lungs hiding behind his ribs. ANYWAY.)]
Fane. [she nods to him in greeting.] Do you have a few minutes?
[ Fane is probably generally Around Varian, but presumably at enough of a distance to be comfortable. So for now, that means chilling in the dining hall for a while. Since he doesn't need or want to partake, this is definitely the most boring part of his day. ]
Ah, Reyna— [ But thankfully, here's some blessed relief in the form of conversation. He nods. ] Absolutely. If I have to continue to stand here and stare while people eat, I think I'll go mad.
i decided i love myself too much to unlock 80+ pcs at endgame
[mealtimes are good for people-watching, but reyna has to admit that it's not as productive as she'd like. people don't seem to be letting their guards down in a way she can make use of - if she wasn't eating, she'd be dreadfully bored, herself.]
...you've probably been asked this already, but are you all right? I heard a little about what happened yesterday.
[ He holds up his wrist as he looks at it himself, but he's not quite offering for her to take a closer look. However, that odd, bluish-green vapor is still being emitted from the crack in his bone. ]
Well, it's not painful. But it also certainly won't be healing any time soon.
[ She won't be able to get a full view, but she'll at least be able to see that there's a more solid looking version of whatever is causing that vapor inside the bone, roughly where the marrow would be. But if she wanted a closer look after that, the moment passes, since he lowers his hand. ]
Just a shapeshifting monstrosity. A few times, I'd like to note. Its face was quite stubbornly attached, so to speak.
[ He's not being completely literal for once, since it's really more like the face kept coming back than it was not being able to shear it off. He shakes his head. ]
And we're all grateful for it - but that doesn't seem to be of much benefit to you personally.
[Like. He's a skeleton. Do those old bones of his still feel the cold?]
I'd be a little frustrated, if I went through that and all I had to show for it was it not being quite so cold. ...but I suppose that does seem in line with everything else we've been made to deal with so far.
[Which means - if Fane wants to tell her he didn't get anything out of it, she'll take it at face value.]
Well... Not at the beginning of the week, it wasn't. I may not be able to feel hot or cold as, ah, immediately as I once could... But I do still feel it. Oddly. The magic that keeps me, well, alive, it's an odd thing.
[ He waves a hand with a shake of his head, since that's not quite what he wants to get into. Instead, he does elaborate slightly, since his other bounty he didn't mention largely because he thinks it's useless... ]
There was also a mirror, but it's quite broken and presumably, quite useless.
[ It's completely reasonable that Reyna has come over to this corner of the library, since, well. It's a little noisy. Fane is unceremoniously shoving books off shelves when she comes into the library, and by the time she's headed over to him, he already has a foot on the bottom shelf and a hand reaching up. Clearly, he's about to climb it... ]
Ah, Reyna.
[ He hums thoughtfully as he looks up--At the top of the shelf is a golden... statue? Maybe? It's hard to really tell, but there's a face on it peering down at her. It looks distinctly like a lizard. ]
Well, if you're a more adept climber than I, then I suppose, yes.
[Hm. Reyna looks up at the golden... statue? Thing? And eyes it. The top of the shelf... that's not too difficult a climb, she supposes. So she nods and walks over to get started.]
I don't think that will be a problem. [Up she goes! ...inb4 it's actually a living, breathing golden lizard that's going to attack her face, that seems like something that might come out of Fane's canon.]
[ I mean. You're definitely not wrong. But no, as she climbs up, it becomes clearer that it's a helmet of some kind. It's actually kind of creepy, since once she gets a closer, she'll realize that it has four distinct faces on it: a lizard, a dwarf, and elf, and a human. ]
It's just a mask, so no need to be too careful with it. It's quite sturdy.
[ Though he calls it a mask, it's definitely a helmet... This game makes my life hard ]
chapter one - thursday;

HEY @ THIS PRIVATE CONVO FORMAT: WTF

I can imagine.

YOU KNOW. THAT'S FAIR.

✨
reyna looks at his wrist and the vapor from where she sits, but doesn't make any move to invade his personal space and get a closer look]
You were lucky to get out of it with just that - or perhaps simply very strong.
no subject
Hm... Not strong, but skilled.
[ low strength stat hell yea ]
Luckily, the Face Ripper did come in hand.
no subject
Oh? [...] Dare I ask whose face you ripped off with it?
no subject
[ He's not being completely literal for once, since it's really more like the face kept coming back than it was not being able to shear it off. He shakes his head. ]
No matter. It's quite dead now.
no subject
[good going, fane. you kill those monstrosities.]
But - I find it a little strange that you were all made to experience something like that. Did you get anything out of it, at least?
no subject
Well, the castle isn't quite so cold, now is it? I assume that was the whole purpose.
no subject

...which is to say, some sentimental item or another of Fane's is out of reach, and Reyna comes across him as he's trying to get it.]
Need some help?
