prologue - saturday evening;

[So the trial's over, and they're all leaving the gardens. Reyna doesn't know what Steph's plans are for the rest of the night, but she has something she wants to say to her before she takes off, so -]

Hey.

Good work out there today.

[vigilantics]

[ she blinks in surprise, and manages not to look around just in case reyna is actually referring to someone else nearby. ]

Oh... thanks. I didn't really do much though.

[toughchoices]

You kept your cool and helped us out where you could.

[Like. Props to Steph for being so willing to just get picked up and carried by so many weird people.]

I get the feeling we're going to need people like you the longer this goes on.

[vigilantics]

Thanks.

[ she is, admittedly, used to stressful situations and dealing with very difficult personalities. the getting picked up thing was new though. ]

I'm just not a fan of shooting that possibilities. People thought the shoe thing was pointless, and look what happened there.

[toughchoices]

I guess this was meant to be a lesson.

[Reyna sighs.]

Discount nothing, and thoroughly examine every possibility. It would be better if we didn't have to, but these are the things we need to be thinking about now.

[vigilantics]

Mmhm. I guess the problem there is getting other people to agree. We have a lot of really... proud? People here.

[ stubborn. getting certain people to agree to something seems like a challenge already. ]

[Stubborn is a better word for it. Reyna nods her agreement.]

Once they've made up their minds, they don't seem likely to change them. We saw that with Dazai today.

It may be a problem in later weeks.

[After they've all had more time to get attached to each other.]

chapter one - thursday morning;

[So, uh, that CYOA sure was a thing! Stephanie and the others definitely seemed like they needed to get some rest after that harrowing experience - so Reyna waits until the next morning to check in on them.

Here she is at Steph's door, bright and early. Knock knock!]

[vigilantics]

Come in.

[ when reyna opens the door, she'll find steph sitting in bed. she actually seems to be in the process of checking her "bandages" (sousei's cut up cape). ]

[in she goes!



hm.]

Do you need any help with that? [She nods at the "bandages".]

[vigilantics]

[ she actually looks sheepish. ]

It's much easier when you have full function of both your hands.

[toughchoices]

Believe me, I know.

[she'll get right to it, then]

It's a shame we don't have many medics here - their expertise would come in handy. Still... [she's been on dangerous quests, she can at least change out and wrap bandages] A useful skill like that would make them an easy target for people hoping to cripple us, so perhaps it's for the better.

[vigilantics]

I can usually take care of basic injuries. With my job, getting hurt is pretty normal and not every injury is something you can go to the hospital for.

[ how do you explain gunshot wounds? you don't! ]

Sounds like being Batgirl is a tough job.

[like. dang, steph. at least demigods have nectar and ambrosia.]

But it's worth it, isn't it?

chapter two - saturday;

[toughchoices]

[well. hm. i was going to say maybe they bump into each other somewhere in the castle, but they're both pretty roughed up, so who knows where they even are? ...reyna's stubborn enough to be wandering if steph is, though

otherwise they can, like, just catch each other on the way back to the dorms

either way, when reyna spots her, she nods to her in greeting]

...Stephanie. How are you feeling?

[vigilantics]

[ they can definitely bump into each other, because someone needs to force stephanie to go to bed. stop trying to walk you dumb fuck. ]

Emotionally or physically?

[toughchoices]

[they're a pair of morons]

I imagine the answer to both will be about the same.

[vigilantics]

[ she gives reyna a look over before letting out a small laugh. ]

Yeah, you'd understand.

chapter three - sunday;

[toughchoices]

[WELL, THAT WAS HORRIFYING.

On... many different levels. There are a lot of things that Reyna can't do much about, but checking on Stephanie? That, at least, is something she can do. So here she is at Steph's door, rapping on the doorframe and easing it open just enough to speak to her. She doesn't want to just barge in if she needs her privacy, but she also doesn't want to make her feel like she has to get up and let her in considering she's mISSING A LEG AND ALL.]

Stephanie? How are you feeling?

[vigilantics]

Reyna!

[ she sounds cheerful, but there's an underlying tired tone to her voice. ]

You can come in.

[toughchoices]

[Stephanie certainly can't be blamed for any exhaustion, at this point. Reyna nods and opens the door to step the rest of the way inside.]

How are you holding up?

[vigilantics]

Better than I would be if your partner didn't out himself.

[ her voice is careful when she says that; she knows that waver and reyna had that big argument right before the vote ended on saturday. ]

[toughchoices]

[There's a vague irritation that flickers across Reyna's face when Stephanie brings up her partner - but it's more muted than it could be. A day passing has given her some time to mellow out, and holding a grudge over his suspicions honestly seems sort of petty in the wake of, well... everything that's happened today.]

He did the right thing. If he hadn't helped you, that would have been very... [Her voice trails off.] Messed up.

[vigilantics]

A little, probably.

[ from what she gathered, varian managed to cauterize the wound before the healing, so she probably would not have bled to death. but the chances of her being conscious right now if it wasn't for that ability are not too high. ]

[toughchoices]

[It looks like there's something more Reyna wants to say, but - the moment passes, and she sighs.]

I won't lecture you - I'm sure others have done that already. But I am glad to see you're still with us.

[Stephanie dying would have been pretty shitty.]
