[so word through the mod grapevine is akechi plans to invoke icarus and mISTAKES WERE MADE WHEN I GOOGLED HOW OVID RETOLD IT, WHAT THE FUCK, EVERYTHING HURTS
But Reyna does not know everything a mod knows so here she is, playing fetch with Aurum with a branch she broke off from a tree in the gardens. She hasn't made a wish, yet. She doesn't know if she should.
The branch hits the ground near Akechi's feet as he approaches, and the gold dog runs for the stick, then looks up at him with a bark. Reyna's gaze snaps up to him.]
[here is Akechi though, with a freshly scarred face, long before Sousei totally messes it up with bruises to try and make the scars less noticeable. they're smart]
Arellano, correct? [DOUBLE NAMES?? he uses the last one only just because he's Japanese and doesn't know better. he smiles, despite the new injuries, and bends down to pick up the stick. provided Aurum hasn't done so just yet] Are you considering making a wish?
[it'll probably be easier for him to pronounce, too, she thinks.
Aurum hasn't yet nabbed the stick, but his ruby eyes are locked on it as Akechi picks it up. If it's possible for a statue to look contemplative, it does. ...then it lets out a low growl. Might wanna throw it, dude.
She takes in the scarring on his face and her brows furrow slightly.]
[There are a lot of things Reyna would like to ask Akechi right about now, but honestly, she doesn't trust herself to actually ask them instead of, like, punching him. So she keeps her distance at first, gives him some time to rest and recover from his fainting spell...
But at some point in the night, he'll wake up to find Reyna standing a few feet away, arms crossed, looking displeased.]
Akechi. I know you're awake - I heard your breathing change.
[There are some reactions to the dead that Reyna was expecting - but if she's being honest, Akechi's wasn't anywhere among them. She notes which direction he walks in, and after giving him a little time to cool down, begins the search.
When she manages to track him down, wherever that may be, she clears her throat to announce her arrival.]
Reyna didn't know Monika well herself - but from all accounts, she was a very understanding girl. Maybe it's not a surprise that she was able to relate to Akechi on some level.]
Because there's shit Reyna wants and there's shit Akechi wants, and they could be going after either one! Regardless of who the hard-to-reach item belongs to, Reyna approaches the situation in the same way: deadeyeing whatever's in their path and formulating a plan to get around it.
In this case, whatever they're after is being guarded by an angry-looking ferret that keeps hissing at them viciously whenever they get close.]
Hm. I could just call Aurum to chase it off. What do you think?
anyway, reyna nods, brings her fingers up to her lips, and whistles loudly.
two seconds later, aurum approaches at a run, tackles the ferret, and snaps it up in his jaws. he trots off, looking pleased with himself. the mask is left unattended.]

I was. [...] ...have you made one already?
no subject
I suppose it's obvious, isn't it? [a sigh] I did. I'd be extremely careful, if I were you.
no subject
[So it's fairly clear something's at play here - his face was clear of them last night.]
...what did you wish for? Or is that too personal a question?
no subject
It's a bit personal, but. . . I suppose talking about it is my punishment for being too presumptuous?
[he sounds so resigned]
my work spared you for a little while but now im back

Akechi. I know you're awake - I heard your breathing change.
[that's, uh.
kind of creepy actually, reyna!]

[the fuck]
[um]
Are you here to kill me. . .
[please free him]
1/2
no subject
No. For better or worse, the majority has chosen to spare your life - so for now, all I want from you is answers.
no subject
If you have a question, just ask it. At this point, I don't care.
no subject
[i. i thought i sent this tag already. wtf.
anyway she doesn't think he'll kill again now; any amount of suspicion thrown his way would be a death sentence.]
no subject
I don't know.
[bad, bad answer]
I don't kill people for fun or because I'm cruel, Reyna-san.
[he isn't a sadist. he's an assassin. there's a difference]

Akechi?
no subject
What?
no subject
I wanted to offer you my condolences - I didn't realize you were so close to Monika.

[but her response cools him somewhat, and his shoulders slump]
She-- [how does he phrase this]
She understood.

Hm. I could just call Aurum to chase it off. What do you think?
no subject
That. . . would be for the best. While I have no doubt we can outsmart a ferret, I'd like to get rid of it without being bitten.
no subject
anyway, reyna nods, brings her fingers up to her lips, and whistles loudly.
two seconds later, aurum approaches at a run, tackles the ferret, and snaps it up in his jaws. he trots off, looking pleased with himself. the mask is left unattended.]
...good boy, Aurum!
[she loves her dog]
no subject
[rip ferret? let's hope you're not about to become Aurum's afternoon snack???]
He's remarkably well-trained.
no subject
[heh, heh]
Anyway... [she gestures at the mask] I believe that belongs to you?
no subject
I didn't think I'd be allowed to keep it after the ball.
